Tivoli
Tivoli has been appreciated for centuries for its strategic position and the beauty of the surrounding landscape, as to be chosen by the Roman lords and nobles of later ages as location to build villas. The main examples are Villa Adriana, Villa of Este and Villa Gregoriana.
Emperor Hadrian chose Tivoli to build his summer residence and now it's one of the most famous villa of the Roman age. The Emperor wanted a monumental home inspired by eastern library, theater, landscape, statues or building he had seen during his journeys. Nowadays Villa Adriana is Heritage by UNESCO.
